You can create either fixed shifts or flexi-shifts depending on the needs of your organization.

A flexi-shift is any shift in which the employee is supposed to work for "x" number of hours during a particular time period.  For example: Employee must work 8 hours any time between 6 am and 10 pm. 

A fixed shift is a shift when the employee will have to work for a defined number of hours during a defined period of time. For example: Employee must work 8 hours from 8 am to 5 pm. For more information on how to create a fixed shift schedule, click here.  

To create a flexi-shift, go to Company Setup>Time>Schedules>Shifts.

Click Add Shift.  The Add Shifts form will pop up.

Fill out the required information to create the flexi-shift.

It is advisable to choose a shift name that indicates the time of the shift, for example "6am to 3pm Flexi."

Next, set Shift Valid From and Shift Valid To for the shift, as well as the Shift Work Start and End times of the shift. Since this is a flexi-shift, leave the Flexi-Shift field as Yes.

In the Hours Worked field, enter the number of hours the employee is expected to work during the shift.

Note: If the employee clocks in before the Shift Work Start time, the time he is clocked in before the Shift Work Start time will not count towards his Hours Worked.

Click Add to create the flexi-shift.  Otherwise, click Cancel
